    Jax awakes in a hospital confused, cold, and hungry. He's tangled in wires, and his mouth is dry. It wasn't until he went to rub his eyes that he realised he wasn't purple. His bare hands were very human, something he hadn't seen for a long time. He has lots of questions, and the doctors had very few answers. With each memory brought back, more questions were left unanswered. Meanwhile, Christine works her usual job at the office, attempting to negate her boredom through personal hobbies and interests. She's had her eyes on a particular abandoned building that she's been casing for a day or two now, and would like to film exploring it.

    Orbiting high above Earth, the Outset Mobile Space Station is the pride jewel of Hyrule's technological development. Its crew consists of Commander Urbosa, and her subordinates, Daruk, Mipha, Revali and Link, each a vanguard specialist in their field, each guarding secrets and personal goals. However when microbial alien life is discovered on a fallen meteor, world renowned but recluse Doctor Zelda is sent up with the mysterious lifeform to study it, far away from Earth in an orbit around the Moon. Now she needs to deal with not only the greatest scientific discovery in history, but also with her greatest challenge: Other people. In the end, the research voyage might reveal much more than was intended.

    “I don’t understand,” he says, and his arms are wrapped around himself now, as if he is cold. They are in Hebra, yes, but he can’t help but feel as if the cold has nothing to do with how he is beginning to shiver.
    “What do you mean you don’t understand?” Revali demands, turning back to him, his glare even deeper on his face than before. “I’ve expressed myself clearly to you many times before - it is no fault of mine that you see yourself as better than I simply because of the sword on your back. Surely you cannot blame me for cutting my losses here - I’ve wasted enough time on you as it is.”
    “I-I don’t understand,” Link repeats, because for once, he truly doesn’t know how it was that he didn’t please this individual. He thought he understood, before, but Revali has grown more and more upset, and Link simply does not understand what he has done wrong to cause this.
    He wants to fix this.
    It is the first time in his life he can ever truly remember wanting something.
    It is as his vision begins to blur (he doesn't know why) that Revali’s expression shifts.
    “Oh,” the Rito says, and suddenly, his face is no longer stuck in a glare, but in horror, and a deep, deep sadness in his eyes. “Oh, no.”

    Once upon a time, there was a hero who was tired. He loved his land, its nature and people, and would sacrifice everything for them.
    And sacrifice he did.
    Since he was just a child, fate and the divine called for him, and he always answered. Not even broken bones or tears of exhaustion could stop him. But two journeys had broken something inside him. So, when he found eight heroes inside his house, there to collect him for a third journey, Link... went along without objections. Yet, it would be no easy adventure, for Link was no hero at all.

    "From what I saw, it looked like a teenager – maybe sixteen or seventeen? Blonde hair, blue tunic. Had a sword and a bow. I tried to approach, but uhh… long story short, bad timing on my part, he saw something weird and I think I might have spooked him. He pulled out his bow before I could even blink. I think it was a warning shot? Hard to say. I tried to calm him down, tried to talk with him, and that’s about the time he threw the bananas and ran off."

    Basically a "gang meets Wild" fic where Wild is a skittish, traumatised, low self-esteem loner who is very stealthy, very fast, not particularly honest and also capable of teleporting. Shenanigans ensue. Features a mix of humour, fluff, hurt/comfort, angst and action, with some of that tasty found family stuff. Things work out eventually, but expect emotional and physical owies along the way. Major themes are in the tags, with some additional CWs listed in the chapter notes - see Chapter 1 for a consolidated list.

    Characters and basic premise are from the Legend of Zelda series and the Linked Universe AU, plus some common headcanons from AO3. Not LU canon-compliant. Please DO NOT repost any of my fics.
