Hallways blur by, feet tangle. So high on this feeling that Steve didn’t care to process what room they were in until his calves hit the mattress, and Billy was sprawling him all over his mother’s duvet.
“Billy, c’mon.” Steve said. Empty house, but kept a hushed voice. As if someone could hear them. “This is my mom’s room.”
Billy took in their surroundings with a knowing glance. The king-size bed was pristine other than the bit they’d roughed up. A floral print duvet, perfectly spread over the soft mattress - complete with matching pillowcases.
The bed frame was sleek and slender. Gold-trimmed. Soft woodwork, matching the vanity on the other side of the room. The vanity where Steve’s mother kept her jewelry, her pearls. Her perfume, her make-up, left sitting out in organized clusters. Elegant, thick curtains were down, covered all the windows. Protected them from the world outside.
A grin pulled at Billy’s lips.
“I know.” He replied, trapping his tongue between his teeth.

Holding in a laugh -- because seriously, it’s funny how horny Billy can sound so broken -- Steve retrieves the bottle from the drawer, handing it over so Billy can practicallyrip off the cap.

“No Robin. I invited him after I overheard Max say that he wasn’t allowed to come with them to her aunt’s house. On purpose. Because no one should spend Christmas alone,” Steve explained for what felt like the millionth time.
“Oh, so it was a pity invitation,” Robin nodded like something had clicked and the world was right again.
“No, it wasn’t a fucking pity–Fuck me. Who the hell decided tinsel should be able to get this tangled?” He muttered as he pulled out what was supposed to be garland for the stairs but looked a lot more like a shiny knot.

Harrington moaned into his mouth. So heavy, Billy felt glued to the seat, melting into the beat. Going down- down, falling -
Then Steve was pulling away. Eyes a little wide. Blown out and beautiful against the hazy streetlight. He opened those plush lips, parted with so many words unsaid.

The red uniform dress is definitely a few sizes too small, but that’s what makes it so obscene and so fucking perfect. It stretches tight across Steve’s chest and shoulders, nipple outlines visible through the front, and the miniskirt is scandalously short, barely even covering his crotch.

Summary
“Get in loser, we’re going shopping,” Steve calls out from his BMW.
The students passing by on the sidewalk turn to look at him, but he continues grinning broadly as Robin gives a quick goodbye to her friend, Ivy, and scrambles into the passenger seat of the car. She glares at Steve as he pulls away from the sidewalk and looks around like nothing is amiss, like he didn’t just quote Mean Girls in front of twenty-five people.
“What?” He asks innocently after a few more seconds of Robin’s stare burning into the side of his face.
She huffs and crosses her arms, “I’m on day two of my period, dingus, don’t test me.”
Steve winces at this, “Noted.” A pause, then more seriously, “Pad supply still good?”
“Yep,” Robin lets herself smile at him and his concern, before poking his cheek to get him relaxed again.
It works, as Steve smacks her hand away like he would an annoying fly, exclaiming, “Robin, I’m driving!”
She just cackles at his pouting face, before turning up the radio to drown out his lecture about road safety.

“Yeah,” Steve says, “Yeah. Of course. Yeah,” and then he listens for a while and says, “Sure,” and then he stands up and settles the phone back in its cradle.
When he turns to look at Billy, it’s like he’s been reset. His expression is completely blank. Steve’s so still that Billy wants to grab him by the shoulders and shake him hard, make him move. The silence seems to stretch between them.
Finally, Steve presses his hands together, begins to fiddle with his wedding ring that means nothing in the eyes of god or the state and everything to the two of them.
He twists and twists and twists it.
“I have to go to Hawkins. Something is back.”

Or: In the spring of 1988, Steve finally told Billy the truth. In September 1989, Billy finds out exactly how real the monsters in Hawkins are. They did lose the blues in Chicago, but Hawkins pulls them back in.
