Jack knew, had known from the day of their introduction, that Quincey was handsome. It was a simple fact, removed from the realm of subjectivity. The wolves in the London Zoo were powerful. The roses in Lucy’s garden, lovely and fragrant. The light from the sun, when it found its way through the city smog, was bright and warm. And Quincey P. Morris was handsome. He was just as much a force of nature as those other things, so far beyond Jack’s reach to even consider in any way other than casual observation.Except now, foolheartedly, he had looked, and he could practically feel the wax of his metaphorical wings melting.
