Summary

She hoped that Persephone’s name might call forth something ancient within Poseidon something that had existed long before he was swallowed by his father, when, during the Mycenaean age, he had once ruled the Underworld.
Persephone was a name that promised return. Whatever winter awaited her daughter, spring would come again, and she would find her way home to warmth, and to her mother’s waiting arms.
