Summary
When everything went awry during a run of the mill scavenging run, Soap could never have foreseen how he would come to meet the enigmatic figure calling itself 'Ghost', a seemingly sentient and talking Volatile. Nor would he have foreseen the strange companionship that would come to be between the two, alongside all the trials that being something more than human would bring them.
(COD/Dying Light AU, this story is self contained from the main DL games and thus will not feature any canon DL characters and therefore require little series knowledge to enjoy. Set roughly nine years after The Fall in the fictional British city Ernesby near the sea.)

Summary
Soap knew he had done many awful things in his life, but never did he think home-wrecker would be added to his list of sins. It was one of the many things that had shifted inalterably the day Simon walked into his life and declared himself the husband of Soap’s current fling.
Six months later and Soap in still trying to atone for his part in Simon’s broken marriage. He’s sworn off men completely for one year and vowed to focus on his career. It seems to be working; he’s been texting with Simon to help him through the legal aspects of the divorce and has even managed to get an invite to join the elite task force 141. Then he meets Ghost and knows the universe must be either testing him or laughing at him. Suddenly, Soap finds himself torn between his steadily growing friendship with Simon and the burning hot chemistry between him and Ghost. Both men hanging just out of reach like forbidden fruit. Both a mistake waiting to happen.

Summary
The Arbiter's initial studies of human culture didn't happen after the Great Schism; he's figured out things about their species through long observation and plenty of patience. He'll acknowledge their new alliance gives him plenty of resources to fall back on when he doesn't understand something. Frankly, he doesn't get a LOT of the customs these people have.
But it's good to increase his knowledge: as a curious Sangheili, he has many burning questions, ones he's harbored for years that ought to be answered at long last. There's only one problem he's got no hope of fixing.
See, he REALLY wishes he could figure out if this 'bond' with his enemy-turned-ally is purely platonic, or he's instigated a serious courtship between them. Chief is being rude in not clearing up the matter but then again, the Arbiter is kind of shitty at clarifying what his questions are.
Misunderstanding is in plenty but were it so easy to understand one another's intentions, then they'd never learn how to become each other's equal.
