Summary
Declan turned the parking ticket over and on the back, drawn in sharpie, was a simple logo. The thick black lines formed a hand grasping a marionette firmly, strings attached to the word “midnight”, and underneath, an address he recognized as a Denny’s parking lot. He put the ticket in his wallet, forcing himself not to smile, although, no one was around to see it anyway. It's fine, he lied to himself, I can be casual, he tried, missing any sort of believability by a mile. What could possibly happen in a Denny’s parking lot at midnight, anyway.
Jordan asks Declan to meet up in the middle of the night once more. Declan can't stop thinking about her.

Summary
Adam Parrish hadn’t always disliked his birthday. Some of them hadn’t been terrible – not great, but he didn’t have much to compare them against – which meant he could vividly recognise just how bad the terrible ones had been.

Summary
In Ronan’s language of half answers and whole truths, this is a cautious admission. This is Ronan admitting to wanting Adam, carefully and circumspectly. This is a step forward, albeit a small one.
Adam takes the next.

Summary
“You should let me drive,” Adam said. His voice sounded far away, even to him. He felt far away, his body cut loose with the sudden absence of Cabeswater. Silence in his deaf ear where there should be the dry whisper of leaves, and a quiet behind his ribs where the ley line had once thrummed to match his heartbeat.
I will be your hands. I will be your eyes.
He already missed it, his want for the familiar comfort a steady ache.
Adam knew that ache.
