Summary
Due to a twist of fate (or just some very, very wonky/possibly supernatural coding nonsense), Caine has found himself making friends with an NPC he's 99.5% sure he didn't create. The more he gets to know her, to hear her story, the more he's been starting to... feel? That's a new one. At the very least, it provides him a distraction from the sense of growing distrust and conflict within the Digital Circus (mostly pointed in his direction, but he's fine, he's totally fine, they're just stressed).
Monika is reeling from her... break-up, so to speak, and initially finds herself dismayed as she's traded one gilded cage for another without her beloved Player in sight. Caine's a decent-enough host, and he's been doing his best to make her comfortable in her new accommodations. But the sting of rejection still burns, and she's not quite sure if she's ready to open her heart again.
The two grow closer, for better or for worse. The rest of the Circus' denizens isn't quite sure which is the best option for them.
