Inspiration is a fickle thing. Edna has known this for so long she forgets how she learned it, as one always does with life’s most fundamental truths. Ideas can vanish like the flutter of a trailing chiffon skirt. Designer’s block is very real, and in Edna’s chosen career, it is an unacceptable weakness.
Another person might say that passion is the secret ingredient, that joy in one’s work is the key. Edna knows better. Passion is essential, but it is not the answer. Joy is fickle too.
The truth: inspiration is the easiest thing in the world, if one is only willing to follow where it leads.

[I just had a great idea.] Nursey roots in his bag for a minute until he comes up with his own tape. He grabs his stick and plops down in his stall. [Okay, go ahead.]

Derek finally gives up and rolls over to wallow. “I am not left-handed,” he mumbles, facedown in his pillow. Putting on the Inigo Montoya accent doesn’t make him feel any better about it.
He knew that the cast would be annoying, but he didn’t see this particular annoyance coming. It really should not be this hard.
“Ha,” he mumbles into the pillow. Hard is not the problem.

“Darn,” Chowder is saying when Dex wanders into the Haus kitchen. “So much for the power of frog friendship.”
“Whoa, what could shake your faith in frog friendship?” Dex asks.
Holster bolts upright. “Ransom!” he calls. “Dex is here! We gotta test their d-man bond!”
There is a clatter from the living room, and Ransom bursts into the kitchen. “Of course we have to test their d-man bond! Chowder, get up, come on, Dex, sit down!”
In the sudden flurry of activity, Dex glances at Nursey, who smirks back at him. Dex pokes his mind, suddenly suspicious. Nursey’s smirk widens.

Summary
They first see each other during the campus tour, and Nurse draws Will’s eye, but they don’t get a really good look at each other until the first day of pre-season. Something about Nurse sets Will on edge right away. He can’t put a finger on what it is, but Nurse is looking right back at him with an intent narrow-eyed look that says he won’t back down from a fight.
“Whoa, the vibe just got mega weird,” Chow says, looking between them. “Do you guys, like…know each other?”
“Mm, yeah, that’s it,” Nurse says to Will. “I don’t like your vibe.”
“Fuck you, I don’t like yours either,” Will says, nettled.
And that’s how it starts.

Dex and Nursey get off to a rough start, but they work together beautifully on the ice from the very beginning. It takes Dex a little longer to notice the psychic link.
