Harry noticed it immediately because he’d heard it said so many times over the course of his years at Hogwarts that it was ingrained into his head. Haughty, taunting, mocking, and in the end even desperate. But now it was neutral. Almost quiet in a way that was unsettling.

The ring on his left hand caught the light as he turned a page—white gold, elegant, expensive. A Malfoy heirloom that had been resized to fit his finger.

Harry pulled out his wand and pointed it directly at the officiant—a nervous-looking wizard in formal robes who'd gone pale as parchment.
"You're going to marry me to Draco Malfoy," Harry said calmly. "Right now."
"I—you can't—this is highly irregular—" the officiant stammered.
"I'm the Head Auror," Harry said, his voice dropping into something cold and dangerous. "I've faced down Death Eaters, dark creatures, and things that would give you nightmares for the rest of your life. I'm also extremely wealthy, well-connected, and not above making your life very difficult if you don't do exactly what I say. So I'll ask again: are you going to marry me to Draco Malfoy?"
The officiant looked at Draco helplessly.
And Draco—Draco laughed.
It was a low, delighted sound that sent shivers down Harry's spine. She stepped over Zacharias's groaning form with the grace of a cat and moved to stand beside Harry, her hand coming to rest on his arm.
"This is the most dramatic thing anyone's ever done for me," she said, her voice rich with amusement.

Yet even knowing that, Harry finds himself playing this strange game of cat and mouse with her, knowing that betrayal is not a question of if, but when. But as he attempts to turn the tables on his nemesis he comes to realise he might not actually know the real Dracaena Malfoy as well as he thought.
In which Harry plays with fire, and finds that, just maybe, he doesn't mind being burned.

Sirius—the Dog Star—could transform into a dog. Bellatrix—the female warrior—was a prodigy at combat magic. Andromeda—the chained maiden—had an unusual gift for breaking curses."
Harry's mind raced. "And you're named Draco."
"The Dragon." Her smile was sharp. "Mother is a Black. The magic passed to me through her blood."
