Summary
If you haven't read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame yet, then I would recommend skipping this fanfic as it contains SPOILERS.
Imogen Cardulo's life doesn't begin with her breaking Violet Sorrengail's arm on Assessment Day and there is much more going on with her than what Violet sees. She is more than a side character this time around.
Once upon a time, because that is how all stories begin, she was just another teenage girl - a little rebellious, a little more reckless than her parents would have preferred, a typically annoying little sister... an awesome friend or a pain in the ass (depending on the day and which one of her friends you asked) and she had a not so little or subtle crush on Garrick Tavis, but who can blame her for that?
Then all the adults in her life went to war and the course of her life changed drastically.
This is her story, in her own words. Starting from the Apostasy and covering all the high and lows, all the joyful moments and the heartbreaks, all the victories and the mistakes and giving us a look into her relationships with Xaden, Bodhi, Quinn and especially Garrick.

Summary
〝 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘮𝘯𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘴, 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘦. "
The year is 1995. After a heroic death in battle, Layla, a young soldier, gets sent to Heaven's gate with nothing but the clothes on her back and confusion. In her search for purpose and settlement, she meets the infamous 'First Man Adam', a bold commander of a controversial army of exorcist angels, and part time rock star in a band that lets him keep his important identity a secret. Undeniably impressed and intrigued by her military knowledge, physical strength, and resilience, he recruits the curious and fresh woman into the ranks under a new alias, Lute. Heaven is a new beast to tackle for Lute, as she learns the ins and outs of this dangerous new world who doesn’t fear to plot against her, dedicates her soul to the exorcists and their cause, and faces the new strong and confusing feelings that were all a foreign concept until she fell under Adam's radar, and began to learn who the deity truly is on the inside.
