    Clint is only a couple of sips into his cardboard cup of coffee, his brain barely out of neutral, which is probably why it takes him so long to realize that some damn psycho is trying to kidnap his dog.

    Excerpt:

    “I’m not some charity case,” Bucky says pugnaciously.

    “I didn’t think you were,” Clint answers back readily enough. “I mean, I can tell you’re fucked up for sure, but of the two of us, I’m probably the bigger disaster. My sleep schedule is shit, and I drink coffee straight from the pot. I sing in the shower even though I’m deaf as fuck. I have arrows everywhere because I’m an archer — did I tell you that? And I was raised in a literal circus, so I’m not exactly domestic. Let’s see, what else?” He squints down at the ground, rubbing the back of his neck. “Oh, yeah, I won the building in a poker game with the Russian mafia and every once in awhile they show up and try to take it back, but usually I handle it, no problem. Uh...”

    Clint happens to looks up and Bucky’s eyes are wide, his mouth hanging open. Clint’s hand freezes where he’s rubbing the back of his neck, suddenly embarrassed. Yeah, when you put it all out there at once, it doesn’t sound so good.

    In accordance with Howard Stark’s will, Tony must wed by his birthday in order to keep his current title, Duke of Manhattan. With very little interest in a spouse, Tony allows an arranged marriage with the son of the man who saved Tony’s life when he was just a boy. Disgusted with a loveless arrangement, Tony decides to spend time away from home, in the village of Riker, where he holds the rank of Marquis, and where no one expects anything of him, aside from to buy the drinks and to raise hell.

    Bucky Barnes has nothing to his name except his good reputation and his looks to recommend him. On the verge of being thrown out of their home, Bucky receives an offer -- come to Manhattan and marry the Duke. Of course Bucky knows the story, twenty years ago, his father saved the Duke’s life. It seems the Duke has decided to pay the debt by offering marriage and providing for Bucky’s mother and sister.

    When Bucky is kidnapped, to be held for ransom as the Duke’s betrothed, he is rescued by a dashing Marquis, with whom he falls in love...

    Captain America wakes up from the ice in 2013. The Winter Soldier wakes up in 2009, or rather defects from HYDRA, for a value of defect that’s closer to decimate. He ends up working for SHIELD. In April 2014, he’s assigned to Captain America’s mission as a sniper.

    Steve’s just trying to get some kind of life together. Bucky is too, or at least he was until tall, blond and Captain shows up and starts just - being there, all the time. It’s terrible. It’s the worst. He has to do something about it.
