“What happened to my first?” Wednesday asks curiously.
“Nothing you can prove,” Enid whispers, swaying even closer, before slowly reaching out and gently tapping Wednesday on the nose. “Boop,” she says, giggling when Wednesday blinks and goes cross-eyed to stare at her own nose.

The gang has lunch. Enid is an equally opportunity flirt. Tyler suffers. Wednesday has the time of her life. And Xavier has a no good, very bad day but no one actually cares about that.

“You’re bleeding all over my carpet,” Enid repeats, nuzzling her face against the pillow with a happy hum. That’s nice. Her head is spinning, trying to pull her back under. Back to her dreams and the butterflies. She loves butterflies, just like Wednesday loves blood. That girl is so weird.
Her eyes shoot open.

“Mr Thomas has been placed under your care effective immediately,” Laura continued, flipping a page. “Temporary arrangement pending review. You’ll be assigned a caseworker—me—for the duration of his placement. I’ll be conducting regular home visits, both scheduled and unscheduled, so I strongly advise you to ensure the premises remain suitable.”
She stepped forward. Close enough that Jason had to shift back a half-step or get bowled over entirely by this woman who was at least two heads shorter than him, and in doing so, she brought the kid—Duke—with her.
“Hey—no, hold on a second—”
OR:With Batman gone, Gotham is falling apart. But Jason has bigger problems. Like this kid who just got dumped on his doorstep due to a case of mistaken identity. What was his name again? Oh yeah— Duke Thomas.

Summary
"Just to be clear. You're suggesting I bring Percy Grant to your fancy, high society soiree?"
"Most of those people are criminals and you know it," Sofia reminds him, but he does have a point. Sofia has crossed paths with Percy Grant precisely the once—when she held him at gunpoint and threatened to bury him alive if he ever tried to fuck around with Jason's inexplicable affection for him. Percy had taken it with cursing, bitching, and a lack of grace that bordered on suicidal. Sofia wouldn't call him the ideal party guest.
But Jason likes him. Somehow, despite the implicit and explicit threats to his life, Percy hasn't made any moves to leave. Jason hasn't made any moves to let him. Which means Sofia has to make adjustments. Allowances. Figure out how in the hell to account for a particularly mouthy and obnoxious blind spot, which begins, as many things do, with carefully controlled observation.
Jason is still watching her, justifiably wary. Sofia just smiles.
"Could be fun," she says.

"Fuck off," Jason says automatically. He digs a knuckle into his forehead, Percy watching all the while. "Listen. All I'm trying to say is if something's—if I fucked up, you have to tell me what to do—"
"Okay," Percy says easily. "Get on your knees."
Jason blinks and he's staring down at the ground. His kneecaps ache in a way that promises future bruises, because he hadn't been thinking about anything beyond the firmness in Percy's voice, how perfectly actionable the command itself was. Percy said Get on your knees and Jason's first and last thought had been to fucking drop. He has to crane his head up to look at Percy now, who's looking down at him with his head tilted to one side and lips tilted up with it, crooked canine sitting sweetly in his mouth.
"That was good," Percy says.
"Uh-huh," Jason says vaguely, and then, "You son of a bitch."
