Summary
It’s a story that has been told before: two young siblings find the Avatar, a young Air Nomad that had been trapped in the ice for a hundred years. The siblings would then go on to accompany the Avatar on a quest that would restore balance to the world.
But this is not the same story. The siblings do find the Avatar, but it is not the young Air Nomad. Instead, the Avatar they found was a Fire Nation princess. For her, restoring balance to the world was the last thing on her mind, yet destiny (and some very annoying Water Tribe peasants) had pointed her towards this path.

Summary
Why is it, Rayla thinks, throat parched and eyes hot. That I’m so afraid? Because fear is as primordial an emotion as any, as ancient as the bones of the world. Because Rayla loves her, and the thought of losing her is terrifying. Claudia means so much to her, and Rayla doesn’t want to ruin that. Because what if Rayla messes up again? What if it all goes to shit?
“Mm?” Claudia says, voice tremulous and gently prodding. And it’s like a lifeline, almost. That glimpse of hope, the sight of dry land like a strip of gold, shimmering in the distance.
Well, maybe you are screwed. Another part of Rayla thinks contrarily. It’s entirely possible. But it’s all conjecture at this point. You didn't even give her a chance to answer you, before. What if things went right this time around?

Summary
If the two avatars were to meet and fall in love again, on Earth, then the two spirits would be allowed to be together. Until that day, they would be cursed to watch as their avatars almost touch each other's lives over and over again, forbidden to take any action that would manipulate their free will.
An alternative rewrite of canon, where the sources of magic are ruled by corresponding spirits. A lot less dragons, and a whole lot more lesbianism.
UPDATE: For those of you waiting for this story to start getting gay, it's starting to get gay. ;)
