Summary
Vox couldn’t sleep. The night was long as he sat by the bed watching Alastor. His wife had tried to leave him; the thought of it made his heart ache. The deer had tried to run. Vox had managed to get the situation back under control, but it had been too close. What if it happened again?
Alastor did not wake until morning. When the deer began to stir, Vox could feel his own heart hammering; he didn’t want another fight, but if Alastor refused to be reasonable, he’d do what he had to do. The beautiful red eyes opened. Alastor blinked, disoriented, until his gaze landed on his husband. “Vox? What – what happened to you?”
The deer’s expression was helpless and confused; there was no trace of danger. Vox breathed a sigh of relief. “Don’t worry about that, sweetheart. How are you feeling?”
“I ... I had such a strange dream.” Alastor sounded scared.
“Don’t worry about that; dreams are just dreams.”
When shadows creep into their happy home, Vox tries to take precautions.

“Hm?”
“The paper. They keep writing ‘Charlotte’. She ... she goes by Charlie.”
Vox froze, a bit of toast halfway to his mouth.
Alastor frowned, looking down at the headline reading Princess’s Pathetic Passion Project. “Everyone says Charlie. H-her own father calls her Charlie, I- I said- say-”
Vox ripped the newspaper out of his hands. “That’s enough, honey.”
Vox is not having a good day. His wife keeps recalling things best left alone, and there’s an unwanted guest waiting at the V Tower.

Valentino stared at him. “Wait, you haven’t made him come?” He laughed. “Really, Vox? You’ve been fucking him for weeks!”
“Alastor is not like one of your sluts, Val, he-”
“No, because then he’d at least be able to fake it.”
Vox sighed. “He’s always been ... difficult about this. He wasn’t interested in-”
“He was a frigid little bitch that never put out?” Valentino shrugged. “Still, I thought, after stalking him for all these years, you’d figured out some things. You have him in your bed, and you haven’t found his sweet spots yet? Really.” Valentino sounded disappointed. “Well, well, well. The big man can’t get his own wife to come.” Then, he started to laugh again.
Since the beginning of their marriage, Alastor has fulfilled his marital duties with barely any protest, but Vox hasn’t really given much thought to his wife’s pleasure. But he’ll remedy that soon enough.

“Well, dear, aren’t you going to open your presents?”
“All of this for me, Vox?” Alastor asked. “What’s the occasion?”
“Do I need an occasion to spoil my little honey? Come on, open one!”
Alastor eagerly opened the first box, and pulled out a garter belt. “What’s this?”
“Beautiful clothes for my beautiful wife.” Vox sat down as Alastor continued to open boxes. For each present, the deer looked more and more thoughtful.
“It’s all ... underwear?”
“Yeees.” Vox grinned. “I just couldn’t choose, I know you’ll look good in all of them. I was thinking we could have a private little fashion-show, here in the living room. Just the two of us.”
Vox buys gifts for his beautiful wife.
