Mario has spent the past hour drifting in and out of consciousness. Each attempt he makes to grasp at waking leaves him like smoke- and leaves him growing impossibly more exhausted.
But he persists through the exhaustion, until finally, after what feels like an eternity, he manages to open his eyes.
Not that it makes a difference to his situation.
Wherever he is- it is dark. Almost too dark to see, but strange crystals were sprouting from the ceiling and walls that give him light. He can feel himself laying on cold, hard ground- but there is a warm and familiar presence beside him that, for some reason, causes him to sit up abruptly, one thought on his mind.
