    Summary

Tim got used to it. The organized chaos. The chirping and cooing and occasional feathers in his coffee. The flock of doves following him around and nesting in his drawers. The murder of crows bringing him shiny trinkets and stealing his pens. It became his normal.

For over a year and some change, the Nest felt full. Lively. Predictable, even.

Until the day he came home from patrol, coffee in one hand, data chip in the other…

…and found a raven sitting on his desk.

Just—there. Like he owned the place.

    Staring.

    Silent.

    Still.

    Like a ghost.

And Tim—Tim just blinked and said, "Okay. That's new."

    Summary

Pietro is forty, yet he doesn't look a day above twenty.

When Pietro really thinks about it, with his mutation literally dragging him outside of the present flow of time and his body moving (regenerating) faster than anyone else alive. If he wasn’t stuck unaging — his cells literally immortalized — then he would have died long ago. His body unable to keep up at the speed in which he lived, and he would have rapidly aged and died as soon as his X-gene activated.

Still, like always, Pietro decides to run. His Walkman already playing to his own version of time.

"Who wants to live forever? Ooh."

Pietro sighs, fate really has a habit of playing with him, doesn’t it? He stopped his Walkman from playing, slipping the headphones around his belt loop.

There he stood on the sandy beaches of Genosha.

Even without thinking he found himself where he wanted to be. Where Magento reigns - where his dad will be.

    Summary

In between the two sides, wholeheartedly unbothered by the whole thing, was Charles. The professor looked calm, the embers of that righteous anger still in his eyes despite his outwards tranquil expression, hands buried deep in his pockets. He looked ridiculous, with his blue cardigan and his tweed pants, that laid out expression still lingering in his face. He looked ridiculous, and still, everyone held their breaths.

He looked ridiculous because he looked dangerous, and not even the CIA agents were dumb enough to deny it. It was that unceremonious calmness that made him look threatening, that pleasant smile plastered on his face, shoulders relaxed, and feet firmly planted on the ground.

Only a fool would look so calm in a situation like this. Or someone confident enough to know they could pull it off.

    Summary

With his eyes still shut, Erik suddenly sensed the hinge of his bedroom door opening followed by the vibration of lazy footsteps against the metal floor. There was no need to check who the intruder was. Erik could recognise the hum of iron bracelets as easily as the call of his own crimson helmet, and any sense of danger was swiftly extinguished under overwhelming fondness.

A rustle of the blanket was the only signal Erik needed to turn onto his back with his arm outstretched, an open invitation that his guest didn’t hesitate to accept as they curled up beside the man and used his arm as an improvised pillow. Erik was tempted to make a sarcastic comment about ‘getting comfortable’, but far too tired for such banter, he simply leant his head against the silver crest of hair now tucked against his shoulder. There would be time for such menial chatter later. For now, it was time to rest.

After all, there weren’t many chances that the father and son got to spend together in peace.
