Summary
Set after “it was enchanting to meet you” - Peter is avoiding Erik in light of recent events.
He told himself it was inevitable. Peter’s embarrassment was understandable. Being reduced to a toddler had been violation enough; having his secret dragged into the light alongside it was worse. Erik was not entitled to anything more than silence. Whatever comfort had passed between them during those strange, impossible days belonged to another version of Peter entirely. A version who no longer existed.
Erik half-expected the distance to last months.
It lasted four days.

Raven took the bundle from Jean and, with infuriating grace, walked a few steps to him. Then—without fanfare, without asking—she placed a baby in his arms.

The world narrowed to a single pinpoint.
Peter— his Peter—was gazing up at him, eyes wide and blinking slowly, one tiny hand curling and uncurling like he wanted to grab Erik’s coat. His hair was a silver tuft, like clouds spun over fresh snow. His mouth made a soft, questioning coo.

Erik’s heart cracked a little further. “You do,” he said, placing the glass beside the bed. “You always have.”
Pietro looked at him then, really looked. His eyes searched Erik’s face, narrowing faintly. Not with recognition, but with the primal, distant wariness of someone who knows they’ve seen fire but can’t yet place the burn.

Peter was stuck, unable to move, to run as the panic began to set in. The concrete was aching around his ankle and his shoulder screamed as Apocalypse twisted it. A crack, followed by a scream of anguish could be heard across the battle as his foot made contact with the back of his calf.
He could hear a familiar voice calling out for him, but still he remained trapped and screaming as his mind raced, trying to think of a way to escape from Apocalypse. Alas it was no use as Psylocke approached and raised her sword against him.
