Summary
The thing was, Rumi really didn’t want her friends to find out about her dating Jinu. For a number of reasons, of course. Being a literal demon topped the list, but there were others too. That was why she and Jinu had been so careful with keeping their relationship a secret.
Rumi and Jinu kept holing themselves up in Rumi’s bedroom late at night for secrecy. As safely as possible. No mistakes. No slipups. Rumi was always able to peel Jinu away and throw him off the balcony before Mira and Zoey would even dream about getting up.
They really should have considered the possibility that one day they would wear themselves out and sleep in.
Like today.

It's nothing odd; most people are. It just means she's younger than her soulmate - that they're out there, somewhere, and she doesn't have to wait to see what it says. It means that someone in the world was born without the words on their wrist - nothing special, either.
It means she came into this world with someone waiting on her.
And to Rumi, that makes all the difference.
Or: Rumi knows her soulmate could never love someone as monstrous as her.

Mystery One: What is Professor Wei, mysterious enigma and the local campus cryptid, hiding from all his coworkers? Mystery Two, which is obviously totally unrelated to Mystery One: Does Professor Lan, a stone-cold terror who will glare at you if you so much as think about asking about his personal life, secretly have a husband? These obviously completely separate mysteries are going to rob Jingyi of any chance he had at a sleep schedule, and he's not even mad about it.
