Dopo la scomparsa dei draghi, e le iniziali difficoltà per ricostruire un villaggio e la propria vita senza di loro, Hiccup è ora un capo rispettato, un marito devoto e un padre orgoglioso. Sotto la sua guida, Nuova Berk prospera, protetta da un giuramento di segretezza che tiene i draghi al sicuro nel loro Mondo Nascosto.
Ma la pace è un equilibrio fragile.
Mentre un'angoscia silenziosa cala sul villaggio, il mare porta a Nuova Berk una misteriosa figura, e un'ombra riemerge da un passato nascosto, rischiando di stravolgere tutto, e mettendo in pericolo il futuro di Nuova Berk.
Per salvare il loro avvenire, e quello della loro comunità e clan, i membri della famiglia Haddock dovranno compiere scelte difficili, e osare l’inaudito.
Il passato non resta mai sepolto. Certe verità bruciano più del fuoco di un drago. E il sangue, anche quello dimenticato, finisce sempre per reclamare la sua parte.
