But before she can fully fall into her dreams, the door to her hospital room opens to reveal a nurse doing her rounds. The noise is enough to coax her mysterious guest from her sleep. Unlike Maomao, she’s fully alert immediately, and her big eyes go wide as she takes in Maomao, a wide smile erupting on her pretty face as she squeezes Maomao’s hand.
Is that flush of heat a fever? It must be. Perhaps she has the flu.
When Maomao wakes up in the hospital with no memory of how she got there and a strange young woman asleep on her lap, she slowly jumps to the logical conclusion.
(Perhaps she should have waited for more evidence.)
