Whatever carefully blank expression Lestat is trying on disappears like a slap. “Armand made a fledgling. Why would he do that?” Lestat asks.
“Oh, you know,” Louis says, watching the three dots of a new text pop up. “He knew Daniel was… important to me.”
He means to say it with rueful annoyance, as if to say, “so he ruined him.” But as Daniel’s text comes in—the most important question I should have asked you in that fucking interview: where do you buy coke in Dubai?—Louis’s voice trails off, his words maybe lacking some of the bite.

Lestat misunderstands what Daniel is to Louis and tries to be a champ about it. Meanwhile Louis rediscovers his drug of choice—Lestat.

Screaming, crying, frowing up, i read a huge part of this in the shower as i washed my hair because i couldnt stop for even a second. My IWTV bestie was submitted to unhinged texts as i screamed at louis to stop being love drunk for a single second. Thank fuck for Daniel Molloy tho, right? Man's the real mvp here.

Louis remembers suddenly, something he had read once in one of his philosophy books, something from Plato, if he remembers correctly. A story about how, in origin, all humans were fulfilled and complete, created with four arms, four legs, and two faces. About how they were split in half by Zeus as a divine punishment, how they spent the rest of their lives in desperate search of their lost other half. The story must be true, he thinks then, because nothing else could begin to explain what seeing Lestat, what holding Lestat again felt like.

Summary
It takes Harry a while to work out that every month, almost like clockwork, Draco is given an assignment in the field that takes him out of their shared office for days on end. After each assignment, Draco returns looking so bloody exhausted that Harry gears up to file a complaint with their boss. When questioned about it, Draco’s explanations range from mildly suspect to intensely suspicious. Harry takes it upon himself to find out what’s going on.
Or: Harry makes a bunch of unintentional knotting jokes while an increasingly baffled Draco is driven insane.
