Summary
At twenty-five, Shane works from home in cyber security. He gets all his groceries delivered. He avoids the outside world whenever possible. Finally—finally—he caves to his parents’ insistence that it’s time to purchase an omega.
Ilya is supposed to be difficult. That’s what the auction house warned him, anyway. They aren’t wrong. Between the language barrier, the violent mood swings, incessant noise, and feral behaviors, Ilya is nothing like the obedient omegas Shane is raised to expect. Half the time, Shane can’t tell if the man hates him, fears him, or is losing his damn mind. Probably all of them, all the time. The other half of the time, Ilya watches him like he’s waiting for Shane to spring a trap. News flash: there isn’t one.
Shane doesn't have any inkling of what he’s doing. He’s never shared space with another human being before. Let alone an omega who doesn't understand personal space. As the walls crack between them, Shane notices things he never questioned before. He realizes there is something deeply troubling in the world he grew up in.

Summary
Refusing to let Ilya ruin his career by signing with Ottawa, Shane chooses to really give their relationship a try and moves to Boston to live with Ilya and become a Raider. What follows is enough public scrutiny and backlash from his team that it has him questioning if he made the right decision. Until moments with Ilya and the Raiders show him exactly why he chose correctly.

Hayden’s eyes flickered to Shane, who he sat on the bench, chewing on the edge of his mouth guard.
“Don’t fucking look at him,” Ilya insisted as he bent down for the faceoff.
“Excuse me?” Hayden mumbled, eyes darting back to him.
“You heard me,” he retorted, his tone clipped. “He’s not your teammate anymore; he’s mine. If you think Marlow is a problem to your game, wait until you see what I will do to your team if you hurt anyone on mine again.”
Hayden scoffed, dipping his head as he tried to focus on the game. Something about Ilya’s words still rang through his head though, sounding so definitive that he didn’t want to risk seeing what he was actually referring to when he said that.
The puck dropped again, and Ilya stole it before he could comprehend how quickly it happened.

“So what’s the plan?” Yuna asked as the four of them set up the air mattresses, putting fresh sheets on all of them and a whole horde of pillows. Old Scooby-Doo episodes were playing on the tv. “How are you going to get Roza— Ilya back?”
“He’s gonna show up to All-Stars looking like a motherfuckin’ snack,” Rose said with a grin as she flopped next to Shane, wearing a pair of his flannel pajama pants and a t-shirt from Juniors.
David snorted a little, shaking his head in amusement. “I think maybe… maybe the real question we should be asking, Shane… is are you willing to leave the Metros for him?”
Shane didn’t even have to think. “Yes.”Shane Hollander decides to stop being afraid with the help of his new best friend, Rose Landry. He also decides if he's going to ask Ilya to be with him, to give up Russia, then he can't also ask him to give up his team. He decides to reconnect with Ilya at All-Stars, not knowing that Ilya won't be there because his father, brother, and sister-in-law have died, leaving him as guardian of his niece. Oh, well. He'll just say hi to him when he gets to his first Boston Raiders practice.

Summary
The second Shane hit the ice, Ilya knew something was wrong. Bood didn’t mean to hit him, it was a clean play and an even cleaner hit. A regular hockey hit. But the way Shane landed and slid into the boards, seeing the blood but not knowing where it was coming from, had Ilya’s heart stopping. Even now, almost three hours later, it didn’t feel like his heart had started again. He could hear Bood in the bed next to him asking him something, but all he could do was refresh the tab ‘shane hollander injury update’ and hope some news article somehow leaked information. He knew he didn’t actually want that to happen because Shane deserved privacy, but he was dying inside not knowing if his boyfriend was okay.

All Shane knew was he was in pain, the medication wasn’t masking it, and he needed Ilya. His parents were both in the room, as was Hayden, doing their best to figure out how to get ‘ily to the hospital.

what if instead of montreal/boston shane got hurt in ottawa/montreal but no one knows they’re together & Irina foundation doesn’t exist yet & what if the injury was just a little bit worse? (not entirely canon timeline)
