Sure, he's got an attitude and walls built up around him a mile high, he'll admit that freely, but he'd never done anything to deserve his mom telling his uncle that he was 'too hard to handle. That's why, when Lorelai comes out with her 'well intentioned' talk on the porch he freaks and says way more about his life than he wanted anyone to know. With Lorelai knowing more about the truth of things, she's not going to let this kid get beat up anymore than he already has been. How does that change things? How does that change his interactions with Rory, and most importantly, how does that bring them together?

“I-I haven’t felt like this before, there’s just so much missing and I can’t be happy, I can’t even be sad, I’m just stuck in this limbo until I know that he’s okay, that he’s not hurt or alone or sleeping under a bridge. That he’s being fed, that he’s warm, that he’s okay. And I know I shouldn’t care, not when he left the way he did and treated me the way he did but it’s like— no matter how much I tell myself to move on, I can’t. I just— can’t. I need to see him, speak to him, even if it’s the last time.”
