When he squeezed enough life out of the flesh, he peeked up to see the television host, who continued to eat. Soleum genuinely couldn’t comprehend it. The food, penetrated on Braun’s sharp fork, distorted and vanished when it came near his head. Yet Braun made the slightest sound of delight at its tastiness. He looked down at his plate again, fingers limp around the utensil. There wasn’t much he could decipher other than its grimyness and its deceptively appetizing presentation. He thought this sort of lie was cruel, but surely it wasn’t on purpose.
Soleum set down his fork and cleared his throat. “Braun, I think it’s time to discuss the payment? I’ve been here for a while...”
The peaceful lull of Braun’s humming halted, and the nostalgic jazz became deafeningly clear.
“Oh, Mr. Soleum, I was planning to bring it up during our dinner! I must’ve been so hungry and forgot to bring it up sooner.”Kim Soleum gets a prize for working so hard in Braun’s late night talk show…but it’s not exactly the most hygienic or ethical of gifts.

But Vincent can’t taste, and he had the pale flush of a fed animal while sipping. He bore into his eyes through the tinted glass, and Rody washed it all down with a gulp, setting the half empty cup next to the burger too. Avoiding Vincent’s eyes, he dredged up anything to fill the silence. He could only stare at the chef’s languid figure quietly.

“And only you know because?”
“Because I was raised by that very tribe.” Cale whispered, tightening his arms closer to his chest as if he just revealed a vulnerable but grand truth.
Both stiffened.
“You were raised by dragons?”
“Yes.”
“Like in the prophecy?”

Summary
None of these are related to each other. Just the collection of pilot chapters I've written.
Pilot Episode: A pilot episode is the first episode of a potential TV series, created to convince a network to greenlight the show and order a full season.
In fanfiction case, a pilot chapter is the "concept and beginning" of a fanfic idea I have. Just to get it out there. But continuing it won't be based on popularity.

Summary
High school third-year Zanka Nijiku has no time to be balancing study, friends, his relationship with a not-quite-mad scientist, and moonlighting as a villain- but he tells himself it's worth it, especially when it's all in order to take down a company that has been sinking its teeth into the city's politics for quite some time now.
But with the media breathing down his neck, a group of villains beginning to move, and a persistent new vigilante by the name of Nightclaw attempting to pin him down, Zanka has to tread carefully, else he risks everything falling apart.

Summary
Perhaps Amo’s philosophy was closer than Zanka had originally considered.
Someone once said to him a meaningless adage about the nature of human minds. "Memory is a monster. We forget. It does not." At the time he'd been too immature to consider it. Now, it had been too long for him to recall who had even said it, a man or a woman or a child. Only that it had sounded so forlorn. He occasionally thought back on that conversation, amorphous and wispy as it was in the fog of his mind.
His memories were certainly feeling more monstrous these days.
Following the battle in the Trash Beast, Zanka’s recovery is speedy and with no physical issues. It does, however, require a month of relearning his senses.

Zanka covered his ears, at some point. Somebody slammed into his shoulder, at some point. Somebody grabbed him by the arm, at some point. But it did not really matter.
When the world went to shit on an unasuming day, there was absolutely nothing left after. Fields of dust and rubble as far as the eye could see.

Jabber tilted back, effortless and fluid, letting the punch sail past with a cheer. “Aww, come on, Mr. Bad Attitude,” he drawled, voice teasing, eyes glinting with mischief. “You really gonna throw hands at me over a little pet name? Gotta say, I love it when you get like this.”
Zanka just stared at him. Fingers twitching.
Jabber leaned forward just slightly, letting the faintest whiff of tobacco and spice drift into Zanka’s senses, a deliberate provocation. “You’re tense,” he observed casually, eyes narrowing as if reading right through the carefully maintained facade. “You had one of those nightmares, huh?”
“None of yer fucking business.”
