Summary
"Instead, Deborah texts Ava: “Do something stupider than you already have, and there’ll be no coming back from it.” It feels too much like admitting she needs the girl, like carving her heart out and laying it on a platter with “I love you” painted in her still-hot blood. She turns her phone off, then. The last thing she needs is Ava tracking her location and finding out exactly how far Deborah is willing to go to keep her."
Or, a much messier take on where the show *could* have gone in 4.09 (that still gets our girls to a happy ending)

Summary
Season One picks up in the fallout of Deborah Vance’s explosive exit from late‑night. After Bob Lipka corners her with an ultimatum “Ava is out or the show is over.” Deborah refuses to bend. Instead, she detonates the truth live on air. “I am being forced to fire someone I love who has done nothing wrong. Just to make shareholders happy. Where is the line?” A line she never believed in until Ava. Deborah walks away from the show and disappears back into the quiet of Las Vegas. Ava stays behind in L.A. honoring the distance Deborah claims she needs until a simple vacation in Hawaii pulls her back into Deborah’s orbit. What should have been a getaway becomes a new residency in Singapore, and paradise quickly reveals it’s cracks. Ava watches the woman she loves unravel. Deborah drifts through each day in a haze of alcohol and denial, running from a truth she’s terrified to face while making decisions rooted in fear instead of the fire that once defined her. Ava is left trying to hold together a woman who has spent her entire life pretending she doesn’t need anyone.

“Wait… Is this all for Luna?”
Deborah hummed, tossed out, “And Kiki,” oh-so-casually, as if it wasn’t the most thoughtful thing Ava had ever seen one person do for another.
“You hired a whole team of decorators to make a haunted house for a 3-year-old?”
“Keep up, Ava. She’s trick-or-treating here.”Bookmarked by LindseyC
