{Izuku’s phone rings in class. And again. A third time. Then a series of texts come through, the screen lighting up and bathing Aizawa-sensei’s annoyed glare in high contrast as he stalks down the aisle to pick up the device with a curl of capture weapon.
“Midoriya, tell them to wait,” he chides. But then Izuku takes the phone back and, even as he starts to type, another text comes through.
He throws his phone reflexively, shoulders hitching and expression oddly blank.
"Problem child, what the fuck."}
{Izuku has lived and loved and learnt the bite of flames. He knows that clutching on to the love of your most precious people has your fingertips blackening, numb, red and pink twisting freckles until they melt, and he knows that letting go isn’t an option.}
Izuku hasn't heard from his so-called father in years, and it's certainly for the better given that he was awful even when he was around. So getting incessantly called and texted by the man one day a few months after the Sports Festival? Well, it's certainly not something for him to celebrate.Quite the opposite, really.

A person whose existence acts as a sturdy anchor for a good chunk of the multiverse. Hundreds of thousands of worlds base their changes and growth around this figurehead's name. In one of these universes, Midoriya may have become a regular Pro Hero. Maybe he gets a quirk. Maybe he ends up receiving one. Maybe he even becomes the villain he never wished to be.
This is not one of those worlds.
In fact, Midoriya in this world has a particular fondness for taking things apart and building them back together but better. He took one look at the world of Pro Heroes that's over glorified in the media and thought, ‘Who would help them? Who keeps them going?’
This is the Universe where Midoriya takes one good look at society and decides, ‘Fuck it, I’ll help the heroes. If I need to change society to do it? So be it.’

After two days of being held captive by a crime syndicate, Izuku's finally found by pro heroes and police officers, but he doesn't look the same as before. Toshinori didn't expect for him to be like he was before his kidnapping, but not like this.

Izuku doesn't think he had much of a childhood. He didn't have friends, or a Dad, or a Quirk, and somewhere within that mix he lost the films and sleepovers and bug-catching, the holidays and pets and birthday parties.Izuku doesn't have to think to know that he loves Eri very, very much. And with that, he knows that he wants to make sure she reclaims every tiny piece of childhood she might have missed, or could in the future.
She deserves the happiness that he didn't get. Even if he has to do things that scare him to ensure this, he'll do it. He's her Deku-nii after all.

Aizawa knows that a lot of his kids haven't had ideal childhoods. The general countenance of his Problem Child suggests that he might be one of them. But it's not until he starts interacting with him in non-school settings that such things become far more obvious. And, well, maybe there's something he can do about it.

Izuku aches. It isn't a new thing, no, but it is slightly different to what it used to be. For years he had sparking skin of a different sort, before his Quirk, because all he had was nothing and nobody, his mother too busy working - which he doesn't blame her for, because it was his uselessness that drove away his father and therefore their income - and coming in at odd times of the day or night, exhausted whenever she does. His best friend does spend time with him, actually, and Izuku will hold onto that with both hands even if his fingers blister and scar under the constant blasts, even if his heart withers and flinches from harsh words and furious eyes.(A touch-starved Izuku with soft dekusquad fic for our souls-)

Summary
Shouta Aizawa just expelled an entire class of students that had no potential, and was on his way home for a well earned break when he gets bumped into on the street and ends up as a cat. It takes a few days, but eventually he finds himself in the home of Izuku Midoriya, who just wants to help the cat that looked half starved. He did not sign up for a weirdly intelligent cat that has a quirk that can erase other quirks.
Shouta determines that the kid has potential, and he's not going to let it go to waste. Even if All Might was also trying to make the boy into his successor.

So, suffice to say that Shouto is aware of his use as a tall person. But one thing he had never considered it for before is affection.
He has watched Midoriya and Uraraka clamber all over Iida for several months now. He has watched how Shinsou folds his arms atop the heads of Midoriya or Kaminari or, if he's in a particularly "shit-eating mood" he will lean atop Bakugou's head or shoulders to warrant a lot of explosions and yelling that most of the class seem to find hilarious. He has watched Yaoyorozu drape herself over Jirou in the most elegant of ways, humming along with whatever the shorter girl may be playing on her guitar.In other words, he does understand that being tall can allow for certain types of affection. But he had not related that to himself.
Until now.
(Shouto doesn't know how to be a friend nor how to be affectionate, but he does know that he wants to try and dammit I love this soft, shy, awkward boy so very much-)
