Summary
Despite having committed a heinous brutal murder, Tav is sure a sweet and caring goody two-shoes, Astarion is irked by this very aspect and holds a clear dislike for the human while Shadowheart is certainly not finding herself drawn to Tav at all.
Pretty much Dark Urge trying to be good and Astarion and Shadowheart catching a case of 'falling in love'.

It was at that precise moment that everything clicked into place.
Astarion wasn’t a person.
Vampires look like people. Smell like people. Walk like — actually, Astarion had a recognizable gait, a sort of bounce to his step, not really elven. And it turns out they can talk and act like people too, beautiful people that make your head spin, make you feel as happy and desired as you’ve never been.
But it’s all just an act — an act of predatory mimicry, designed to lure and entice, to make you drop your guard and voluntarily turn yourself into fucking bread.

In short: Tav refuses to believe vampires are thinking, feeling people. And if someone is not a person, you don't have to treat them as one. The abuse is strictly psychological, no violence. Consent is seemingly given, only the reader knows it's insincere.Bookmarked by LittleMayday

Summary
On the second day of their infiltration into Moonrise Towers, after successfully convincing the leadership of the cult of the Absolute that they were, in fact, loyal True Souls, murdering a few goblins on orders, murdering some prison guards and one prison warden not on orders, and rescuing the tiefling refugees, again, Astarion is finally enjoying himself. There are trinkets aplenty for him to loot, cultists to mind control, and as much blood as he can stand to gorge himself on - greatly improved from the barren waste of the Shadowlands or the dreadful heroism of Last Light’s occupants.
This is, of course, when everything goes to shit.
(Or: Astarion, the day after their encounter with Araj Oblodra and his confession to Kel, is forced into an awful situation. Caught and imprisoned by the cultists for freeing the tiefling and gnome prisoners, left with no weapons, no healing, and a grievously injured Kel, he is offered a choice - agree to bite Araj, and she'll sneak him out of Moonrise. Agree to sleep with her, and she'll help them all escape. In the end, it's hardly a choice at all.)

Summary
In the final moments, when it looks like they're about to achieve the impossible, like they might all make it through this insane adventure they've been flung on, they are betrayed. Tav takes the Elder Brain for themself, seizes their companions minds for themself, and becomes the Absolute.
But they forgot just who was wearing which magical item. The Ring of Mind Shielding shines brightly on Gale of Waterdeep's finger, burning itself out against such overwhelming will. That doesn't matter though. What matters is what a determined wizard can do with six seconds, and everything hanging in the balance.
The orb detonates. The Absolute is destroyed, no matter who was puppetting it. The world turns on, saved.
And Gale does not cease to be.
Thrown back to the moment he first absorbed a shard of Netherese weave, he has two years to save the world, as well as everyone he's come to care about, from Bhaal's favourite child and their illithid plot. This time he won't make the mistake of seeing a friend in a Bhaalspawn, or let Astarion turn himself into someone he's not. Sure, he might not survive the experience, but that's what happens when your only weapon is a self destruct button.

An Absolutist cult has gathered deep in the bowels of the forests of Rivington. Nothing out of the ordinary... Other than the sheer numbers they possess, creating a dense population of Absolute extremists gathered in stone ruins.
Adventuring parties that dare to end their machinations perished slowly and painfully. Their corpses - what is left of them - are displayed pierced from the gnarled branches of the trees, where they bleed out on the forest ground.
Tav, Astarion, Gale, and Karlach had a plan: throw a barrel full of smoke bombs into the middle of the ruins, firebolt, and profit. Except things didn’t go according to plan (they never do). That barrel was supposed to be at their rendezvous point, but the cultists found it before they did and thought it a gift from their Goddess.
Trapped in hiding, Tav decided to do what they do best: attack.
A potent necromancy curse was successfully cast on Tav, negating any healing spells thrown their way.
Well.
