Fourth year was supposed to be simple: a world cup match, a new timetable, and the usual chaos orbiting Harry.
Instead, Hermione starts noticing the small things everyone else ignores — the legal notices in the back of the paper, the quiet power behind certain families, and the way the rules around underage magic never seem to apply quite the same to everyone.
Armed with a notebook, a few Muggle “just in case” supplies, and an inconvenient talent for pattern-spotting, she walks into another year at school and straight into the orbit of Theo and Blaise.
They’re not friends. Not yet. But they have access to the kind of knowledge Hermione’s never been offered, and she has a talent for turning information into leverage.
Before long, homework is the least important thing they’re working on — and the quiet, hidden parts of the castle matter a lot more than what happens in class.

Summary
A lot of this is going to be me trying to rewrite my own version of some of CombatTambot and IISleepWalkerII's chapters and plot so I am just saying early on that large portion of credit will go to them and everyone should go read their works before mine because they are excellent.

Summary
On record, Hermione Granger was an overworked and underpaid attorney for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, taking mostly cases involving the mistreatment and abuse of magical creatures. Her ten, sometimes twelve hour days started promptly at 7:30 am, her brisk walk across the Ministry atrium in her sensible work heels blissfully quiet before the morning rush of witches and wizards turned the cavernous space into chaos.
Off record, however, was a different story entirely.
Leave it to Draco Malfoy to barge in and tip the scales on the precarious balance she has on her life.
