“What’s your name?” The question is asked as if they’re at the saloon, sitting next to each other at the bar for a casual evening drink.
“I, uh- what?”
“Your name, so I can ‘inquire’.” An impish grin, “you know, like you said.”
“Rumi Kang,” Rumi nearly goes to tip her hat in pure reflex, and then hides a grimace. Stupid move when someone’s got an itchy trigger finger. “A… pleasure to meet you, ma’am.”
No sign of recognition, only a pleased tilt of the woman’s head. “Oh, that’s a pretty name! I’m Zoey Jones, if you were wondering. You’re very polite, you know, even with a gun pointed at you. That’s pretty admirable. Does that mean it happens to you a lot?”
Rumi blinks, looking from Ms. Jones’ genuinely welcoming smile to the shotgun still aimed at her. “Not quite like this, I admit.”

Rumi is a lonely bounty hunter trying to find a missing rich girl. Mira is running from her gilded cage and just wants to build her own life. Zoey is a struggling rancher who just found a stranger sleeping in her barn. The Saja Boys arrive to make everything worse.

Summary
The sight before me is familiar, my room in Seattle, my collection of stuffed animals behind me, the rain-pattered window overlooking Washington Park, the pillow I knitted with mom next to me. I stand up, my legs wobbly, and move to the mirror. My body feels heavy and light all at once, the kind of tired you are after a good work-out. But it’s more profound than that, something impossible to put into words, something so fundamental it’s nearly unnoticeable.
I don’t know what I expected, but it wasn’t my face, same as ever, not a trace of what just happened on my skin. Not even a single hair out of place. 'Come on Max, there’s no way you just dreamed that up.'
AU where Max goes back in time when Chloe is shot, except it’s not a few minutes, it’s 13 months.

After a particularly perilous fight that leaves Shadowheart far too close to death for comfort, she comes to a decision.
An idiotic, unthinkably painful decision, but a path forward, nonetheless.
She needs to become better at physical combat, fast.
And, fortunately or unfortunately, she has recently made a tentative 'truce' with an obnoxious yet admittedly adept Gith Warrior who for some ungodly reason seems to always erect her tent right across from her own.
Well. Let's see if Githyanki can be trusted on their word. Or, even better...coerced into a mutually beneficial arrangement. She's certain there's something she could offer the Gith. Twist to her advantage. If this could also make Lae'zel more bearable, all the better for her.
Lady of Sorrows guide her. How badly could this go?
