Summary
Not that it was a decision really. More like an inevitable outcome of this, of them, the type of relationship between an artist and their muse that usually kept one gripped anyway being fed by something else - a deep-seated hunger that Vein had to know more about Xia Fei, to peel him open for his eyes and his eyes only.
Muses are hard to come by. Something Vein knows well and a point that Xia Fei is not entirely afraid to draw on when trying to convince Vein to let him help with his personal project.

Summary
Xiao is somewhat the co-conspirator in Childe's disregard for his own wellbeing. Something which Zhongli's keen eye does not miss at all.
Out of a misplaced sense of guilt, Xiao feels as if he deserves this though - needs to be punished, perhaps even craves the guiding hand of Zhongli. He doesn't expect to be so gently treated, to be wrapped up in the warmth and care of his two partners who want nothing more than to lavish him with all the care and attention they believe he is worth.

By all intents and purposes, it wasn’t gonna last. Xiao had seen how dramatic and reckless the 11th Harbinger was firsthand during the Osial incident. He wasn’t the first nor the last indignant pawn to vent his frustration like that.
If Xiao was—as Lumine put it—a flight risk, then Tartaglia was an oil spill. Or a tar pit. That had to be the only explanation as to why Xiao didn’t leave when he should’ve. Lantern Rite’s alcohol was one thing, Tartaglia's shameless advances were another.
