“Uh.” Mark halts. “Did I... hurt you?” He lowers the razor safely off Simon’s skin.
The warm hand at his waist tightens. Squeezes. Mark is unceremoniously tugged forward until his lower half is as close to Simon as his upper half.
His thighs meet the cold metal of the sink counter, but the feeling doesn’t even register to Mark who is, currently, going through a full mental system reboot.
“No,” Simon says, and swallows. It looks heavy, makes his freshly shaven skin bob. His voice is rough when he says, “Wanted you closer.”
Mark’s pretty sure he makes a very stupid face just then. Because. What?
“Oh,” he whispers faintly.

to anyone feeling like the kiss was sudden and out of nowhere: just imagine simon, in love with mark but not sure what to call it yet, having to sit for an hour while mark leans in real close and touches all over his face and jaw while praising him about it and handles him carefully and considerately while yapping and being endearing and WILLINGLY helping him shave because he OFFERED to and WANTS TO DO IT— and tell me he’s not supposed to kiss him. the poor man was being tortured and he reached his boiling point 😔 besides, what could POSSIBLY be more intimate than that??

Qyin froze, his fingers inches away from his clipboard. His professional mind raced for an analytical answer: concussion, prolonged oxygen deprivation, moderate hysteria due to whatever god-forsaken creature he had met.
He knew the textbook answers; he knew how to give proper dosages of medication to counteract symptoms, how to set dislocated jaws back into place.
But this was different. This was a mental regression, a total, involuntary retreat of a shattered mind's hopeless, last ditched attempt to protect itself.
Telling this man, this battered man, that his mother was most certainly dead would be like kicking a puppy. It wouldn't heal; it would only further damage what was already hurting.

Biting back his tears he stomped past the mafia Don, nimbly dodging the hand that reached gently for his arm. He fled up the stairs and into his room, slamming his door and flinging himself back under the covers.
Mark didn't follow.
