"The Daydream potion," Hermione says. "The person who intakes it experiences very vivid and realistic daydreams of all they could ever want, but is essentially in a severely catatonic state out in the external world, incapable of any basic functions."
Harry nods. "Somebody's given it to Malfoy." He remembers the tattered remains of a black cloak wrapped around Malfoy. "I think it might have been Professor Snape."
They take a minute to process that.
"And... the cure?" Ron asks.
"Tears of anyone the experiencer craves love of," Hermione answers.

In truth, Akutagawa always knew he’d die young; it was simply a matter of how long he’d manage to hang on until his weak, frail body at last gave out. So rather than fear, the diagnosis brings him an odd sense of relief. Now, at least, he has a better sense of the timing. Getting his affairs in order will be easier this way; he has no intention of leaving behind a mess for Gin to sort out.
Still, the bitter irony of the situation doesn’t escape him. The heartless dog of the Port Mafia, struck down because he feels more deeply than his body can withstand. Perhaps that part of him has atrophied, disused for so long, and it’s now collapsing under its own unbearable weight.
