    Summary

It's lovely up here; all meadows dotted with wildflowers, wind-beaten tracks criss-crossing this way and that through the fields, weaving inland to the pinewoods. The sun's hot on his back as he passes ramshackle stone walls, long since crumbled to piles of ancient rubble and scree, and then the path winds downwards, still following the line of the coast until Sirius finds himself outside an old white cottage, tucked away behind the hill with a rose garden that faces out to the sea.

Sirius moves to Cornwall for the summer and meets a rude, beautiful boy who is writing a book that may or may not be about dragons.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Quite possibly one of the sweetest things I’ve ever read. There are honest to god tears in my eyes and a warm lump in my chest. I’ll return to this sometime on a rainy afternoon curled up in bed with a cup of something warm.

    Summary

“Kim,” you say, and he blinks at you in the middle of putting out his hand. “There’s something fucked up going on.”

“You must be from the 41st. I’m Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi—though you seem to know that already.” He seems tense, for some reason—and his hand is still out. “I’m afraid I wasn’t told who you are.”

“It’s me, Harry! Kim, don’t you remember me? Fuck, there’s something really wrong happening.”

“If you’re referring to the dead body that has been hanging from a tree for seven days—then yes, I agree. It is pretty wrong.” Kim is looking at you with his mouth slightly pursed. There’s no recognition in his eyes—he looks at you like you’re a stranger.

“This can’t be happening." Kim clears his throat.

“You are clearly going through… something. But I would appreciate it if we could focus on the case for the moment.”

“Oh my god,” you say. “We did it already, Kim, but for some reason I’m the only one who remembers! This is some—some cosmic joke from the universe, I’ll tell you that.”

“Okay,” Kim says, slowly. “I’m going to give you a moment while I talk to the manager. You’re going to sit down and sort out whatever it is you’re doing. And then we’re going to take down that corpse.”

Maybe in Night Vale, where everything else works a little bit wrong, love works a little wrong too. Maybe in Night Vale, where time occasionally stands on end and gravity pulls slightly less than usual every second Thursday, someone like Cecil, a love like Cecil's, could come without any strings attached at all.

OH I KNOW YOU! Beautiful work, as always by this author, who has perhaps just always been my favourite author. But the way this was written was fantastic, even the radio segments sounding like they genuinely could just be in an episode of nightvale. And the way they write Cecil and Carlos <33 absolutely stunning

    Summary

The year is 1912, and one angel and one demon's lives are about to change forever as they embark on the fateful maiden voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic - and a relationship utterly forbidden by both Heaven and Hell.

Rating and warnings for Chapter 13, the rest being far more mild. Some slight amendments to the 2011 FanFiction version, nothing major.

Once again, I apologise to the fandom for reading a comedy and writing a tragedy.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I remember coming across this fic back in 2019 when I first watched the show, before I had even read the book (before I would come to realise just how important this fandom would remain to me) I promised myself I would read it but never got around to it, and every summer for the next 4 years I would open up this tab, and then forget. But 4 years later I finally read it and holy fuck was that an experience. It was beautiful and so painfully devastating. The most emotionally ruining thing I’ve read in a while, short yet so impactful. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same person I was before I read this.

Man begets man begets The Tales of Men, and there's nothing godly in that; Those Above and Them Below haven't any need for the stories humans have been hungry for since the snake and the Angel with the flaming sword.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Fucking hell this was hands down the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read.

I come back to this every few months, my words can never do justice the sheer impact this fic has had on my life. Every time I read it I notice something new and I can barely get through the first paragraph without my eyes filling with tears from the sheer beauty I find in this. Some things have to be spoken to even do justice the sheer enormity they carry and this fic is the epitome of this. It’s my favourite in the sense I’m doing a creative writing degree in the hopes that one day perhaps I can leave an impact on someone’s life the way this fic did on mine, it’s my favourite in the sense that no matter what fandom I’m in I will consistently return to this, it’s my favourite in the sense that I have it memorised almost word for word and will recite parts to people when they ask me for my favourite piece of literature.

I don’t think I will ever be over this fic, I’ll be old and grey and still think about it. It’s been 5 years now of me coming back to this and I doubt it will ever stop. Really I just want to say thank you to the author for creating something so incredibly poetic and filled with the same beauty I find otherwise only in sunsets.
