“Promise me you’re going to break up with him,” Ilya says, the teasing edge in his voice fading into something more serious. “I am very selfish, Shane. I do not want to share what is mine.”
Shane nods almost immediately. “Tomorrow,” he breathes out. “I’ll break up with him tomorrow.”

Shane has never been completely certain about his relationship with his boyfriend. There’s always been a sense that something is missing. But when he meets his boyfriend’s coworker, Ilya Rozanov, he finally understands what that missing piece is, and realizes he’s found it in Ilya.

Summary
“Papa,” Shane starts, raising his voice to be heard, “who is that?”
His father finishes sipping the wine in his goblet and turns his head to face Shane, who is still looking at the gladiator, and raises a brow at him. “You don’t know? He’s the most beloved gladiator in Rome, perhaps the entire empire. Never lost a fight.”
He can’t be that beloved if I’ve never heard of him, Shane thinks. He does not voice this, but hums in acknowledgement instead.
“And what’s his name? This great gladiator?”
The voice of the Emperor of Rome sounds tinged with something almost like respect when he answers.
“Xanthos.”
Shane, son of the Roman Emperor, attends a gladiatorial games for the first time in his life. He finds something much more entertaining there than the combat.

The move has sent shockwaves through MLH, as San Francisco was widely expected to sign a contract extension with Rozanov, who became a restricted free agent in June.”
