When Caine made flowers, they were always her favorites; when he sang songs, they were the ones she knew the words to; when he tested the generation of animals and sounds and shapes, they were always pleasing to her; she didn't even have to tell him.
Kinger made Caine. Kinger loved Queenie. So of course, Caine had to love her too; the creator's obsession bleeding into the creation, inevitable as code.

He will. He's not fucking heartless. Velvette called him a doormat earlier and she's fucking wrong, he just knows when to pick his battles, and this is a real boundary he will enforce. Vox isn't allowed to break Val's things.
Angel just has to call for him.
A shrill scream cracks in the air and Valentino flinches, half jolting towards the motel door, before realizing that it was just the storm. Fucking scream rain. He worries the tip of his thumb at the junction between his phone and the case, fiddling with the blunt plastic, resisting the childish urge to chew on his nails.
It's fine. He's being stupid.
Or: Vox leaves Valentino to pick up the pieces of his latest brainwashing session. Valentino takes Angel home.
