Summary
“Girls are great,” Robin agrees. She squints at Steve. His hands are shaking, jittering the videos, the sound of clacking plastic a soft undertone as she watches him. “But you have not just figured that out. You definitely knew that in high school. I saw you seduce so many girls, Harrington.”
“I – yeah, okay. Look. It’s stupid. More than stupid! I mean it, Robin, this conversation is not worth having.”
“Then it is a conversation? Just one you don’t deem to be of any worth,” Robin points out. Steve huffs, radiating frustration, so she carries on, prodding him repeatedly in the shoulder. He is tense beneath her touch. “This would be way easier if you just spelled it out for me, Steve.”
“I don’t – I – there’s nothing to spell!”
“I don’t believe you! Why are you suddenly so curious about girls?”
“I’m not curious about girls!” His voice is abruptly loud enough to startle both of them. The words clang between them and she freezes in place, taken aback, but so does he. She watches him, lost, as he drops his stack of tapes and flushes in the sudden ringing silence, and then suddenly she’s not lost at all.
“Oh,” she breathes.

Summary
Eddie gulps down soda until he has no choice but to breathe or choke, then runs the bottle over his face and throat with a groan. The chilled glass feels amazing against his heated skin, sending a shock of cold dancing along his nerves. Condensation drips down his neck and soaks into the hem of his shirt until he raises the bottle to his lips and drains it completely. He opens the cooler again to swap his empty bottle for a full one and nudges Steve on the leg. “Harrington?”
“Huh?”
“Soda?”
“Hell yeah, give it here.” Steve blindly holds a hand out in his direction, hovering demandingly in the air, and otherwise does not move.
Eddie eyes the bottle and grins to himself as a wicked thought occurs. It won’t go well for him. He’s sure of it. But since when has that stopped him?
“Okay, man, sure. Here you go,” he says, affecting as innocent a tone as he can manage. He grasps the bottle, moves right past Steve’s outreached hand, and presses the icy glass against his bare stomach.

Summary
“Why not have it the way you used to wear it?” she suggests. Her voice sounds somehow faraway, as though she is in another place. “The way you wore it when we met.”
Ah; she is not in another place, but another time. It seems as though Jaskier is not alone in drawing comparisons to that day. “You remember what my hair looked like all those years ago?”
“Is that so surprising? It wasn’t that long ago.”
“Long enough,” he says lightly as he looks up at her. “Though I’m flattered that it was as memorable for you as it was for me.”
“I met Geralt that day,” Yennefer murmurs.
Something sharp sinks heavily in his stomach, piercing as it lands. “Oh. Yes. Of course.” Jaskier nods abruptly and hisses as it pulls on his hair in her grasp. “Ow!”
“It was an eventful time. It stuck in my memory for a multitude of reasons.” She meets his eyes for a fraction of a second, and just for a moment, rubs soothingly at his scalp. He does his best to suppress a shiver.

"I am no longer a passenger in the stream of time." You remember the words from the nothingness. You deliver them matter-of-factly, and Kim takes them as such with a short nod. Perhaps once upon a time, back in Martinaise, he may have looked at you askance, but he knows you better by now. You both do.
“Indeed?” He looks at his watch. "Well, I am. And for me, an hour has gone by since you closed your eyes."
"You should join me in timelessness, Kim. It's very freeing."
"Is it? It is two in the morning."

Summary
Somehow, despite all of that, she simply cannot understand how Jaskier writes music. Not in an insulting way; she is sure he must be talented, if the reputation he keeps telling her he has is anywhere near as lofty as he suggests. It’s just that she doesn’t understand how it happens at all; while she can picture herself fighting like Geralt and channelling chaos like Yennefer, she cannot imagine how she would go about writing a piece of music.
She finds herself blurting the question out, surprising both him and herself equally. She truly had not meant to bring it up at all, but she is so relaxed, listening to Jaskier strum his lute as rain drums on the roof of the cottage, and her idle thoughts float from her mouth without her brain bothering to vet them first. “How do you write songs?”
