It’s a Sunday afternoon and Akechi Goro is in his shitty apartment, sprawled on his couch, when he makes a horrible discovery.
A re-run of Featherman is playing on his thrifted TV. Mid ad-break, he turns on his phone and sees a very familiar app, sitting there on the home page innocently as though last time it had appeared out of nowhere it hadn’t ruined Goro’s life. He had been sipping on disgusting instant coffee, which he spills all over his pants from the shock.
Not because he’s clumsy, obviously.
His right eye twitches. He opens the app, and reads the words: Amamiya Ren, Tokyo, Shrine.

Jaemin lifts his head out of his arms and looks suspiciously at the guy who has sidled up next to him out of seemingly nowhere. He just cocks an eyebrow in response, too grumpy to say anything.
The guy lets out a little laugh at that, more of an exhale through his nose, and scratches his cheek. Not self-conscious but obviously not expecting to be met with such blatant hostility. He’s cute, Jaemin will give him that, even though he doesn’t want to. Cute, but not his type.

Donghyuck does as he’s told, which is a first. He supposes that he’s just high. Whatever helps him sleep at night. Just high, that’s it. That’s all this is.
He climbs onto the bed in nothing but his underwear, and Jaemin’s still fully dressed. Laying back like this, Donghyuck really does feel like he’s set himself up to be consumed.

Donghyuck crams his jeans with the very last penny before he ghost-walks out of yet another sweat-smelling motel. The only thing he leaves behind is an unmade bed.

Tossing and turning at night, worrying about a man who doesn’t think of him as anything more than an acquaintance is a downright demeaning way to live, he inherently knows this. It doesn’t stop him from losing sleep over whether or not Mark has already moved onto the next big thing.
It doesn’t hurt any less when he watches Mark eat breakfast across the table the following morning, never losing eye-contact with his phone.
(Mark wants to be friends, and Donghyuck is tired of running in circles.)

He thinks of the Lee family crest, how it’s displayed proudly across their home, how the mantra of BLOOD BEFORE ALL echoes off the walls. It’s shocking how little it means to him now, how he’d throw everything away to make sure that it was him and Donghyuck together at the end.
How it’s his unbending loyalty to Donghyuck that makes him who he is, that makes him strong, that makes him brave.

Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Is Actually More Than Half Decent In Bed. Logistically, it’s a great mix. Donghyuck will begrudgingly admit that Jaemin is easy on the eyes—even if he’s got the personality of barbed wire.
It’s a match made in hell. It’s kind of perfect.

Once again, Donghyuck has the instinct to beg, because how is he supposed to simply move on with his life after hearing that? Jaemin is looking at him with that tortured romantic look one only sees in romcoms or tv dramas. It’s agony to Donghyuck’s already fluttering insides, and he tries to think of what is exactly worth it or not in this instance.
