There had never been the right moment to say it, she’d read ‘how to come out’ guides over and over but something had always come up. First, it was that her mom’s addiction was getting worse so she’d have to stay with her dad, then her dad had his own problems, then it was Miguel in a coma, then it was going to jail, then it was her dad accidentally pushing her into a locker and knocking her unconscious with a permanent facial scar to boot and on and on. Before she knew it she was a passenger in her own life just watching it drift by the car window.

He needed to do something that would make LaRusso hate him again, then that would quash the churning terror in a gut. What does it mean if you think about a guy a lot but you don’t hate him and he doesn’t hate you? What could they be if not enemies, every interaction he’d had with LaRusso had been motivated by hate, hadn’t it?
During the December of 1986 two slightly messed up kids attempt to reconcile.

“I had so many people that had ideas for Johnny Lawrence. Actually, my favorite one was Pat Morita himself had an idea. He wasn’t done with Miyagi yet, and this is in his last years. He called me he said, ‘BZ BZ, I have a great idea for Karate Kid 5.’ Miyagi’s going to die, and he wanted him to have a proper Okinawan burial, but while he’s sick, he saw Johnny Lawrence as being his doctor, and I thought that was interesting. That was probably the wildest idea I could’ve imagined, and coming from Pat Morita, it was awesome.”

Slowly Sam turns around to face him. “Johnny. Why are you still here?”
Johnny, at least, looks as supremely uncomfortable as Sam feels. “I think your dad might kill me for real if I let you lez out without supervision.”
“Lez out?” Sam snaps, voice rising in pitch. Oh fuck. Her dad. Her fucking dad.
“Hey, I watch TV –”
“You can’t tell him,” Sam interrupts.
Or, Sam and Tory kiss. Everything, predictably, goes straight to hell immediately afterwards.
