See, my dad and uncle were famous, not like a movie star or a rock star. They were famous in other circles. A certain demographic knew who they were; they are known as hunters. They don’t hunt animals, well, they kind of do, but not the kind you are probably thinking of. They hunted the things that go bumping in the night, the things that hide under beds, in dark alleys, or in broad daylight. The monsters that most parents tell their children are only imaginary. That was the kind of hunter my dad and uncle were; they hunted monsters.
It was Shane who got up this time. It was 1 in the morning, and he needed to make sure his kids were okay. So, he quietly walked to the bedroom and looked through the partially open door. Irina was awake. Her eyes were wide, terror on her face. She was staring at the open window.

Ilya Rozanov was 19 when Ekaterina was born. Her first memories date back to when she was 4. When he was home, he would spend as much time with her as he could. He would always take her to the park, play with her, and sing her to sleep when he could. He saw the way her parents would ignore her unless people were around who would look down on them. He wanted her to have a somewhat decent childhood, so he did all he could when he was around.
She was 8 when Ilya left, never coming back
He was her safe space until he wasn't.

Summary
I am working on a chapter for Uncle Ilyshia, and I am having a hard time writing about my own religious and mental trauma. So I wrote something that put mental and emotional trauma into physical trauma. Then have someone come along and heal that trauma. I don't know if that makes sense, but here you go.
"Ilya!! What the hell have you done?" Shane yelled.
Ilya opened his eyes and looked around. What was Shane talking about? So used to the feel of blood running down his arm. The feeling of caked blood tightening on his skin.
"Why?" Shane cried.

Shane stares down the medic, “Get a tourniquet on his leg and Cliff will leave but not a fucking second sooner.”
The other medic, a woman, starts going through their medical equipment bags and kneels next to Cliff. The loud one, a man, nods at Shane.“That’s fair. And other than holding his hand, what are you doing to help, Mr. Hollander?” Shane glances down at Ilya’s pale and frightened face. He briefly takes stock of what just happened. He’s on the ice holding Ilya Rozanov’s hand. He's in his regular clothes at a game he’s not playing in. He steels himself and meets the medic's eyes again. Fuck it.
“I’m his boyfriend. I guess I’m here for moral support. Give me something useful to do and I’ll do it. But I’m not going anywhere.”
Shane looks down at Ilya. He shrugs his shoulders and smiles tightly. He watches as Ilya goes from shocked to awed to joyous and finally to overwhelmed. His eyes are glassy and he swallows roughly. “Have I lost too much blood, or did you just tell someone you are my boyfriend?” Shane scoffs and smiles down at him, “A little bit of both. Just stay awake, ok?”
