Summary
The world building in the canonical Harry Potter series holds a plethora of contradictions, English colonialists paradigms, and a great many gaps in which an enterprising fan might explore or extrapolate.
I’ve seen wonderful AUs to address these issues, but then I thought, what if the problem stems not from JKR's world building, but the in-world flaws of Magical Great Britain and the way winners write history?
This fanfic is a “textbook” written by a self-insert author to explore this idea and act as a reference work for my own potential future stories.

Summary
A follow up to “A Different Letter” this story is set in Diagon Alley the summer before Harry’s first year. Harry gets ready for school, meets some of his family on the magical side, and has a more pleasant summer than in the books.
You don’t need to have read Oak King Holly King to follow the story, but the characters fit perfectly into the story I wanted to write, so I went for it.

In a canonical world where wizards lived separately from Muggles long enough before the Statute of Secrecy to have their own folktales, Anglo-Saxon derived Wizen-gamut, and no understanding of trousers which join at the crotch, it is odd how everyone seems to speak, read, and write in modern English.
A brief glimpse into a world where not just the fashion departed from muggle customs in the medieval period, but language as well.
