„Now you‘ve ruined that pretty face of yours,“ the man said bitterly as he hauled Bucks Arm over his shoulder.
Together the pair continued their walk to the parking lot. Bucks’ head was spinning, his vision blurring in and out. The pavement beneath his feet didn‘t feel like it was there at all. Buck could feel something wet on his face and clumsily reached up.
When he drew his hand back it was sticky, bright red blood staining it.
Bucks panic spiked.
This was bad. This was really, really bad.

It isn't Eddie's fault, technically, that he didn't tell anyone at the 118 that he was married.
Okay, so maybe it was. Just a little bit. But in his defence, Buck is away for work all the time, and none of them technically asked.
It is getting pretty hard to hide the late night calls, though.

The younger man was lying there, fetal position, clawing at his neck with one hand and ripping at his hair with the other one. He was gasping for air in between sobs and didn’t even acknowledge Eddie.
„Buck, Buck can you hear me?“
Buck kept on gasping for air, shaking his head as tears continued to roll down his face. His neck was bloody from where he was scratching so hard.
„No, no. You‘re…,“ he breathed out heavily „not real.“
„Hey, hey, hey, I‘m real. I‘m here. It‘s going to be okay,“ Eddie frantically said as he reached forward and pulled Buck into a sitting position, pulling Bucks hand away from where he was hurting himself.

Summary
Buck was curled on the couch, barely conscious, pale and shivering. His lips were cracked, his eyes glassy with fever. A trash bin nearby held evidence of hours of illness—tissues, empty water bottles, a half-eaten piece of toast. The blanket tangled around him was damp with sweat.
Eddie froze.
This wasn’t just the flu. This was abandonment. This was a man who had been left to suffer alone.
“Buck,” he whispered, kneeling beside him. “Jesus…”

Each word hit like a blow. Buck’s handwriting was shaky, the ink smudged in places where tears had fallen. Eddie’s throat tightened as he reached the part about trust. About family. About leaving to give them peace.
He sat down hard in Bobby‘s chair, the letter trembling in his hands.
“I want to give the team space to heal without me being the reminder of everything that went wrong.”
Eddie closed his eyes. He could see Buck writing it—alone, hurting, convinced that his absence was the only kindness left to offer.

Whumptober 2025 - Day Twenty-Six - Relapse
One thousand seven-hundred and fifteen days.
He used to be proud of that number. This morning, when it still mattered. He used to feel pride every morning when the number went up. Another day gone. Passed without him cutting himself open in a desperate attempt to- god, he doesn’t even know why he did it anymore. Or… does it. No. No, this was a one time thing. Just a little slip, but he still had his grip. He wasn’t going to fall any further down the self-mutilating slope.
That’s what he told himself as he washed his blood down the drain.
That’s what he told himself when he didn’t bandage his arm.
That’s what he told himself when he stopped wearing short sleeves.
That’s what he kept telling himself every night when he reopened more of his scars.

“911, what’s your emergency?”
Eddie’s voice cracked. “I need an ambulance. Now. My friend—he’s collapsed. He’s burning up. I think he’s severely dehydrated. Maybe worse.”
The dispatcher asked for the address. Eddie gave it, fast, precise. Years of training kicked in, but his heart was racing, his throat tight.
“Is he conscious?”
“Barely,” Eddie said. “He’s not responding properly. He’s been alone. I don’t know how long.”
He hung up and knelt beside Buck again, brushing damp hair from his forehead. “Help’s coming,” he murmured. “Just hold on.”

Summary
Set in an alternate universe where everyone has a biological imperative to be a dominant, submissive, or switch and where the tsunami happened after the lawsuit.
The sub stirs, lifting his head from the tile to blink hazy blue eyes at the person standing in his bathroom. Eddie’s tongue sticks, throat closing at the sight of the gashed open skin on the left side of his face and the bruises darkening his jaw. Buck looks awful. He’s pale and there’s a sheen to his skin. He can’t seem to focus well, squinting up at Eddie in a way that suggests he can’t quite tell who he’s looking at.
“Buck.”
On the floor, the blond jerks, flinching away from Eddie’s hushed voice. He presses into the wall at his back, his next breaths hitching and catching in his chest. He won’t look at Eddie, ducking away from eye contact. “Please,” he whimpers. “Please. I’m sorry. I’m sorry!” His voice is rising, turning frantic. He’s gasping, tears welling to spill down his cheeks. “I’m sorry!” he cries.
Or, Eddie goes to Buck’s to check on the submissive after the tsunami. He’s not okay. Eddie takes care of him. This doesn’t fix things but it’s a start.

Summary
He was heading back to the loft after the first 12 hour shift of three in a row, opting for the stairs instead, needing the extra time to clear his head after another crappy day at work. He thought after three weeks the team would at least start to forgive him, but nobody had so much as looked his way for more than ten seconds before averting their eyes in disgust. As much as he wanted to call in sick, he thought he could hold on just a little longer, and if they still didn't forgive him, he could always just go back to active duty with the SEALS.
He climbed the last flight of stairs and headed down the hallway toward his loft, he pulled his keys from his pocket and fumbled when they slipped from his grasp and clattered to the floor, the noise echoing through the silent hallway. He bent down to pick them up, only to get whacked in the back of the head as he rose, his face smashing against his door, leaving a small trail of blood from the impact as he passed out, feeling a small prick in his neck.
OR
Buck goes missing after the lawsuit, turns out he was a SEAL and his kidnapper fakes his suicide, but Eddie doesn't believe it.
