It began, as so many dreadful things do, at a party.
Elizabeth Bennet’s first impression of Fitzwilliam Darcy is… unfavourable. Her second and third impressions are hardly any better. He’s aloof and haughty and casually insulting, yet she keeps catching glimpses of something deeper in his character. Which is the only possible explanation for why she can't seem to get him out of her head.
Free-spirited artist Elizabeth is everything Darcy disapproves of, yet he finds himself captivated by her... and quite desperately attracted. Try as he might he can't stop himself from wanting her, or being drawn back again and again as she works on a mural for his new offices. He can't seem to stay away from her, or stay out of his own way in his attempts to connect with her.
When the consequences of Darcy’s actions bring the sexual tension between himself and Elizabeth to a head they both think that will be the end of it. He could smell her before he could see her. Again. That musk and richness that perched between her legs. But Sauron remained atop his throne, his nails tapping on the black obsidian loud enough to echo off the arches. He marked his impatience with each little click. The memory of her light voice, her adorable attempt to out-chant, out-magic him still fresh in his mind. As if anything else but the image of her stern and focused face as she tried her hardest had filled his imagination. Or the image of her body suddenly bared to his eyes, her lithe and powerful frame naked for all to see. That bright hair like the Trees of Light, her pale skin and wiry build the same as all the Noldor. She could feel her pulse between her thighs, and her hands pressed against the cold stones behind her. She was desperate to temper the rising heat.
When she finally managed to speak, the words came out as a whisper. “Yes.” She swallowed, and his gaze dipped down to her throat like a predator studying his cornered prey.
His eyes shifted back up to meet her own, and she could see her own hunger reflected upon his face. It was a dangerous hunger, the kind that one would commit atrocities to sate.
Halbrand’s lips spread to reveal a lupine smile. He was beautiful and beastly all at once.
“If my lady is pleased…then so am I.”
