Nikolai had been so lost in his thoughts that it took him a minute to realize the only sounds in the kitchen were the click of a keyboard and the opening and closing of cabinets. He’d lost Fyodor to his computer again.
“I hope you haven’t eaten yet. I did buy things thinking we’d eat together. You hungry?” he asked in an attempt to start some conversation back up.
“I haven’t eaten. I thought I could wait a little more and get some more work in first.”
Nikolai looked toward his busy partner with concern. He knew how Fyodor could get once he got into that mindset and how unlikely he was to actually eat something if Nikolai didn’t give him anything. Fyodor was nothing if not a man dedicated to his work, but he could get carried away. Luckily for him, Nikolai always took it upon himself to make sure his work partner was properly taken care of.

Joseph blinks, rising from his defensive position. “Oh. Uhm. I’m sorry. I can take a look at it tomorrow if you want?”
Kakyoin scoffs quietly. “Do you just have sewing materials on hand?”
Joseph falters then. “I…hm. I actually would, but with our supplies being lost with the camels…”
Kakyoin sighs gruffly, on the edge of coming out like a growl. “Then don’t- don’t worry about it.” His voice is stiff.

“You should be more careful with this,” Akira murmured, tapping the sharp tip of the mask with one finger. It matched his gloves perfectly. “You’ll take someone’s eye out.”
The tip of Akechi’s boot pressed into Akira’s as he shifted, raising himself to his full height, shoulder tassel brushing against Akira’s jacket. Red eyes lingered on the mask now spinning slowly between Akira’s hands.
“Only to those careless enough to get too close.”
“Well.” Akira nudged Akechi’s shoulder, meeting the eyes that flitted up. “Good thing I’m known for being reckless.”
Slender fingers brushed against his own, easing the mask out of Akira’s grip. Akechi hummed, a wonderfully rich noise rumbling in his chest. “Then I suppose you only have yourself to blame if you get hurt.”
Akira was fine. Their plan had worked. No repercussions. Now all that was left was to take down the bastard who had put him in that room to be drugged and beaten in the first place. Nothing they hadn't done before. Easy. Right?
