Summary
“Humans are so stupid,” Da Qing huffs, tail lashing in the air.
“I am not human,” Shen Wei tells him, voice quiet, tight.
It makes Da Qing settle and still, looking at him carefully. Like he’s just remembered that Hei Pao Shi is in his kitchen, bribing him with bites of salmon and generating enough dark energy to fuel a city for a year if anyone could figure out how to harness it.
“Then you know better than to listen to her.”
“I know enough to let it be,” Shen Wei agrees mildly.

I cry every time I read this, but it's so so good. Shen Wei's view of his own self worth and his love towards Zhao Yunlan. From his denial to his defeated acceptance, continuingly convincing Da Qing and himself that "it's fine" and "it doesn't matter". This is good. Really good.
