Summary
It’s the summer of 1959, and classics professor Stede Bonnet is determined to become a new man. He’s made two monumental changes so far: he’s resigned his position at the University of Chicago, where he has taught for his entire career, and he’s left his wife Mary, to whom he has been married for nine years. Now he’s off to the only place in the United States where you can get a no-fault divorce: the deserts of Nevada. He’s checking in to a so-called Divorce Ranch just outside of Reno, where he’ll spend the requisite six weeks establishing residency. After that, it’s off to California to assume his new teaching position and his new life.
It's the summer of 1959. Ed Teach has been living in Reno since he was a teenager. He's a radio DJ, an artist, a handyman and a fixture of the community, particularly popular in the underground gay nightlife scene that is still recovering from the brutal vice raids of the McCarthy era.

This came from my own prompt: "Fanfic idea where Stede and Ed go on a date, Ed really likes Stede, but he's not so sure about dating a guy with kids. So they decide to just be friends. And it's easy and it's wonderful. Until Stede starts dating a guy who says he loves kids, but Ed KNOWS he's lying."

Summary
Stede and Ed - in a flash of either stupidity or genius - come up with a plan to pose as a couple for the holidays. This way, Stede could avoid being set up by Lucius as well as having to come up with a reason why his mysterious partner suddenly wouldn't make the Christmas party Lucius is hosting. It should be easy, in theory. It's only for the party, and maybe the odd time Stede and Ed are seen together in the days leading up to the event.
Except, of course, it isn't.
Because not only does this simple plan get painfully out of hand from the onset, they've been in love with each other for years. They just never told one another. And, they don't intend to.A modern day holiday romcom.
