Claude tracks her down in the library, and Byleth can tell from the look in his eyes (and the cupcake he’s trying unsuccessfully to hide behind his back) that he’s up to something. And whatever it is, it's bound to mean trouble for her.
“Teach! I need a favor,” he says.
She stares at him over her open biochem textbook. “I’m your tutor, not your teacher,” she reminds him for what feels like the millionth time. He ignores the comment and slips into the seat next to her, finally producing the cupcake he’d brought as a bargaining chip. She eyes it and adds, “You must need a big favor if you’re resorting to bribery.”

“... You. You’re Rayquaza.”
To stop Groudon and Kyogre from destroying Hoenn, Byleth must climb to the top of the Sky Pillar and find a Pokemon that can quell their fighting. Who she finds there instead is not who she expected.

"What about me?" Claude raised an eyebrow.
"You sounded upset while you were talking about what happened between harpies and humans."
"Did I?" Any hint of Claude's frustration melted away with a smile. "I didn't mean to rant about history when you're supposed to be learning how to read. It's just… if other humans and harpies could have a civil conversation like we're doing now, there wouldn't be so few harpies in Fodlan, and humans wouldn't have to live in fear of them. Not to mention how much we might gain from learning from each other."
"True." Byleth nodded slightly. "But perhaps our kind will always fight, and we may just be special cases. I have amnesia, and you are, as you said, a weirdo."
Claude has a lot of plans. None of his plans involve an amnesiac harpy named Byleth that gets injured while saving his life. As the two of them get to know each other, amidst fateful reunions, spilled blood, and the unraveling of ancient legends, Byleth's mysterious past seems to intertwine with the secrets Claude holds close to his heart. Yet only the flow of time can decide if they share not only the same sky, but also the same fate.

She had only mentioned that to him once, and yet he had seen its effects in the emotion hiding behind her eyes many times on the battlefield. It seemed impossible, but Byleth was quite the impossible person.
“My friend,” he said quietly, “how many times have we been here before?”
