Summary
Violet Sorrengail gets dragged to fancy events a lot - like some random betrothal announcement in Tyrrendor - downside to being the daughter of the king's head of security. Her date is often her childhood best friend - son of her mother's aide - and the man both their parents want her to marry. Unfortunately for them (and fortunately for her), he and the king's eldest son have been in love forever.
Xaden Riorson, heir to the throne of Tyrrendor, is supposed to have his betrothal between him and a Poromish noble announced tonight. In a last ditch effort to get out of it, he convinces his father to give him two hours to find an alternative.
He's not expecting to find love in a handful of hours - just a better option - but sometimes the gods know exactly what you need ...

Summary
Violet has spent the year after Liam’s death thinking Xaden hates her. Xaden’s spent even longer pretending he’s not completely in love with her.
But when Xaden fakes an engagement to Violet in an attempt to avoid an arranged marriage, the carefully crafted walls between them begin to crumble and they are forced to confront what had been simmering between them all along.
(Takes place in the middle of Iron Flame, but it’s in a canon divergent AU in which Violet never got with Xaden because she was dating Liam until Resson)
