Summary
Arisato Minato and Minako, while they survived the accident that claimed their parent's lives, could hardly be said to have lived through it. Broken by what they experienced and witnessed, the twins would find no solace; decried as cursed children, whose mere presence would bring death with them, they were passed from one distant relative to another, never kept around for long. With time, the two would come to embrace near total apathy, Minato openly and Minako hiding behind false enthusiasm and a fake smile, with only their bond with each other to call them back.
Now, a decade after the horrible event, the two receive an offer for scholarships to study at Gekkoukan High School. Uncaringly, the two accept what they assume to be another in a long line of disappointments. However, what they will receive, and give to others, is the healing of hearts, and an adventure to rival the myths of antiquity.

It's been three years since Nyx was sealed away and the Dark Hour ended, and three years since Shinjiro woke up from a coma. He's still not convinced he deserves the peaceful, normal life he's living, anymore than he's used to enduring one less hour through the night.

Par for the course of being Shinjiro Aragaki was threading the line of existential nihilism, but he was a far cry from apathy, all of him tough skin but soft heart. Too fed up to live yet too scared to die Shinjiro carried his weight and was glad to just exist and yet – and yet – when a girl with crimson eyes told him his time was nigh he didn’t react with outrage and instead asked how she knew.
She told him she could read the context clues, see the death flags. “It’s ok, I have them too.”
It made sense that she’d be the only one that could remove them as well.

But Shinjiro arrives just in time to give her some solace, some normalcy, and she seizes it as quickly as she can.
Shinjiro calls it a favor for him, but the way Kotone looks at him... you'd almost imagine it was the other way around.
