Tom’s stance had shifted. His posture was still straight, but too stiff—his spine locked in a way that screamed discomfort. His normally sharp eyes, always scanning the room, seemed unfocused now, like he was trying to blink something away. His brow was furrowed, lips pressed into a thin line as one of his advisors spoke into his ear. He barely responded.
And then—A flicker of movement. Tom stepped back from the group, a murmured apology falling from his lips. The crowd parted for him like water. He didn’t look at anyone. He moved with purpose, but it wasn’t the usual commanding stride he carried.
It was off-balance. Urgent. Wrong.
Harry watched as Tom moved past the gold-edged pillars, past the velvet curtains, and pushed open the tall glass doors leading out into the gardens.

Omegas are rare and precious. They are property of their alphas and not permitted to, for instance, drive race cars.
Max Verstappen presents as an omega and his budding racing career ends. Max and his father start a frenetic search for a suitable pack for Max. Because of the rarity of omegas, there is no shortage of packs looking for an omega, and omegas often end up mated to more than just one alpha. Max and Jos, however, have certain standards where it comes to Max's future pack: the pack must be built around motorsports. This cuts the number of eligible packs signifigantly smaller. Their search proves to be more fruitless than they anticipated.

Summary
Omegas are one in fifty thousand. They are to be kept out of danger, protected and loved by a full pack in order to keep them safe and happy. No pack in their right mind would let an omega race in Formula One.
So Max Verstappen must keep his true designation hidden from the full-alpha grid if he wants to race. That is, of course, until they find out anyway.

Summary
In 2015, when Max first joined F1 as a fresh-faced rookie, the pack shut him out because of the wrongness and temperament that existed on him like a second skin. In 2025, Max has mellowed out and the pack, specifically the rookies, begin coming to him. Whether they are tired, angry, hurting, or unsure, Max never says no. He doesn’t weigh the risks of involving himself with a pack that doesn't claim him; he only registers that someone needs something, and that he knows how to give.
Layered on that, Max has a secret that the pack doesn’t know nor understand but they begin to circle it. It lives in the way he goes still when certain voices drop, in how his eyes glaze when praise lands too heavy, in how he never asks for anything and how every so often he'll disappear and return as a ghost.
