Summary
Over the past couple of months, humans had become aware of mutants and yokai. At first it had seemed like a catastrophe, but little by little, more and more of the interactions between yokai and Humans became positive. The humans had slowly started to accept them. Well, some of them had. The rest were still firmly against yokai-kind, but who needs them? Donnie, for one, had zero fucks to give. Whether they liked it or not, the president had made the decision.
Donnie watched attentively, tapping his fingers as the president’s pen danced across the paper, taking seemingly forever. The president was signing the bill that would change him and his family's lives.
This was the bill that would finally recognise mutants and yokai as American citizens.

When he tears his eyes away from the skyline to the boy at his side he finds Yuichi already looking at him, those same eager, hungry eyes drinking in Leo instead of the scenery. They are suddenly locked into their second staredown of the day, a similar tension building in the space between them, minus the awkward undertone and nervousness. Leo can’t look away, doesn’t want to look away - he’d be content if he and Yuichi could stay here forever, lost in each others eyes, silhouetted by the setting sun. Gently, he takes Yuichi’s hand once more and pulls him closer, catching him when he stumbles, unwinding their fingers to wrap an arm around the rabbits waist and draw him in so that they’re flush against one another. His other hand shakes slightly - with excitement, now - as he raises it to cradle Yuichi’s soft, fuzzy cheek in his rough palm. Yuichi’s fingers close around his wrist, thumb resting on Leo’s pulse point. He grins when Yuichi’s breathing stutters, relishing in the harsh thump thump thump of Yuichi’s heart against his plastron. “Hold on tight, bunny,”
